Speaking in front of people is a great privilege. You have a chance to inspire people, to change their minds, to encourage them to try something they never did before. You can entertain them for a specific time.
But it comes with a significant duty. There are too many bull shit talks out there. Too many people pretend they know what they are talking about.
Sadly too many talks are dull and give little insight. They just try to sell a product or the speaker.
Especially when it comes to "Metaverse, Web3, and NFTs," we have to be careful what we talk about. If we don't do it correctly, we might underline existing prejudices. But we want people to get as excited about the matter as we are.
Why do I talk in front of people?
I enjoy it! I like the challenge of taking a group of people on a journey where they forget the time and even forget to look at their mobile phones.
I need to know and understand what I am talking about. This means my aim is not to scratch just the surface. So when I know I am invited to speak, it puts a lot of pressure on me to deliver depths and valuable insights. This also helps me in my daily business life.
It is marketing for myself. Usually, people who talk on stage are seen as competent and as leaders in their field. So this can be very beneficial, and it can be well paid for.
But most of all: I get in touch with so many intelligent and interesting people! As a result, my network grows, and I can build connections with everyone I meet.
What is my key driver to speak? I love new things and change. And this is the key in my talks: there has always been change. Whether we like it or not, there will be more change in the future. No matter if you run your own business or work for a company, you should make up your mind about what the future might look like.
Only if you are well educated you can develop a strategy. And even if you don't like what this future might look like personally, you must understand what is going on in your professional life. You can't sit still. Otherwise, others take over for you.
I focus on "Metaverse, Web3, and NFTs" in my talks. Why? I am passionate about it, I can spend hours and hours with it, and it never gets boring. Second, I enjoy exploring new avenues where all this will take us. Third, I am curious about what business models can build on these ideas. Everything I find out, I put into my talks – they are a condensed version of all I know.
Does anyone know from us what a day "in the Metaverse, in Web3, with NFTs" will look like in 5 years? No. But we can be 100% sure that "a day on the internet" will look different than today! I think a lot of it will be fascinating – let's influence it for good. Let's talk about it.
Thanks to everyone who invited me to speak!
Thanks to everyone who spent their precious time listening to me!
