Another packed newsletter, from the metaverse to virtual fashion to a few new drops and some in-depth studies.
Hey everyone,
Seems summer is slowly coming to an end here in Hamburg. Was a busy week again, never feels like you get done everything you wanted to achieve. I met a few fascinating people again. My most significant pain at the moment is working on a new talk around "The Metaverse" – this is what I spent my last few evenings with.
"The Metaverse" feels so much like a buzzword that probably many people are tired of. But if you want to talk about something on stage, you have to nail it. And when I speak about something, I want to go deeper and excite people. My main goal in my talks is that everyone leaves the room with an open mind and some inspiration. So besides sharing fundamental knowledge, each talk needs to be entertaining – my main KPI is how many people take out their phones during my talk.
Will be on a few stages in September, less than two weeks to get it right.
One source of inspiration is Matthew Ball's excellent book "The Metaverse." A must-read if you want to uncover the stuff behind the buzzword:
Branding in the Metaverse
A few weeks ago, Thiago de Marco interviewed me for his publication about "Branding in the Metaverse." He published it this week. I still have not managed to go through the 113 pages – but it shares so many insights and thoughts. So everyone who is in branding/marketing should give this a read:
M&M
Many brands ask me how to enter the "NFT space." M&M has chosen a good and straightforward approach:
Meta
Not really news, but Meta keeps working on integrating NFTs into Facebook and Instagram:
Virtual Fashion + AI
I am convinced that virtual fashion will be a thing sooner or later. Now people have started to combine it with AI. Imagine the possibilities in a few years:
Clone X Forging
No science fiction. This is available today. The RTFKT Clone X forging. Each Clone X holder can order clothing, depending on which DNA their Clone has. Products will be shipped in 2023. There are also Air Force 1s. They could become the rarest Nikes ever – at least digitally and maybe physically. If Nike ever decides to produce them, which is not clear yet. The complete look book:
If you want to see how many of each product were "forged" (ordered), there is a Dashboard for that:
Crea
There will also be virtual fashion that stays virtual! Crea is working on a line of fashion for Clone X Holders:
Cultivate
And if you need some accessories for your Avatars, Cult1vate covers you. I am always amazed by the 3D skills of these teams:
AI-generated videos
Combine all of that with AI-generated videos. Some first shots with Mid journey and Dall-E. I am still not getting it a 100%, but this thread is worth a look to get a glimpse of the possibilities:
Tokenproof
Tokenproof.xyz is a great tool to tokengate your events – and in the future, also to tokengate your website. I had the chance to meet the founders. It is a great team and I am happy for them that they got 5m$ funding:

Atari
You spent your youth playing with an Atari? Now is your chance to get your hands on a piece of their history. (Damn, I still remember how I ruined my hands by playing too much):
Banksy
Seems Banksy is dropping an NFT collection:

This is a write-up about the Web3 strategy of Time Magazine: https://www.metacommerce.app/
